Erciyes Turkish Restaurant

So I have this group of friends who I do volunteer work with, and we like to go out and eat. One of our most favourite places to go is Erciyes Restaurant on Cleveland Street on the border of Surry Hills and Redfern.

We like this place for a number of reasons:

  1. The food is plentiful
  2. The quality is outstanding
  3. The price is right
  4. The service is wonderful
  5. We can be noisy and rambunctious and no one bats an eyelid!

The night starts off with one stuff up. Two of us had booked for our group, so the poor restaurant  thinks it has TWO tables of 16 booked for a Tuesday night!

Eveleigh Markets

marketsThe trend for markets in Sydney is growing.¬† The newest kid on the block is the Eveleigh Markets at the Carriageworks in Redfern. This huge space works perfectly for a market, with it’s vast undercover space, large outdoor space, cafes and station close by.

When I arrive just on 10am, on an extremely muggy Saturday, the market is already packed with families and cool urban dwellers checking out the tasty goodies on offer.

Bistro CBD is the first to kick off this effort with their Fixed Rate Feast! Lucky for me, I had a lunch catch up with Howard from Eat, Show & Tell and this was the perfect venue.

Sosumi

So wandering around the CBD on a slow work day (naughty I know, but that’s what technology is for!),¬† the Fashionator and I decided to do something a bit different for lunch. Having worked our way through Witchery Martin Place (which is closing down), we had worked up quite an appetite. Sick of the usual options, we decide on the foodcourt in the GPO. I haven’t been here for ages, and had completely forgotten the range of choices available!

We settled on the most magnificent Sosumi sushi train right in the middle of the lower ground floor:
