An easy weeknight, neighbourhood dinner. We’ve exhausted most of the cheap and cheerful options in our immediate vicinity of Surry Hills, and we’ve heard through the grapevine that what was once The Flinders Hotel has had a change of image and ownership and is now The Local Taphouse, a beer emporium.

Easter long weekend, and it’s raining. I’ve already dragged the poor boyfriend out for a 3 hour walk to shops that were closed. So, it’s off for a pub lunch to one of the newer additions to the dining/pub scene in Kings Cross, The Sugarmill.
I’d heard rumblings from the Twitterverse of the cafe/bar Tiger, Tiger during Edge of the Web held in Perth. So it was our first stop on arrival in the CBD. By day 4 of our trip, as I have previously mentioned, we were desperate for decent coffee. Lucky for us, Tiger, Tiger was a mere hop, skip and a jump away. In addition it also supplied free wireless! So on our first visit (a scorcher of a 42° degree day) we headed into it’s cool surrounds to get some coffee, find out what was going on over East via the interwebz and try some of their goodies. I must make honourable mention of the wonderful waitress who wrapped a bunch of ice in a tea towel to place around our hot necks…

We were told by many that we shouldn’t stay in Margaret River because the accommodation would be up to 30% more expensive..so from the glossy tourist brochures, and the web we settled on Busselton. Situated in Geographe Bay, Busselton seems to be the equivalent of Batemans’ Bay for Canberrans. A lovely seaside town, not too far from home, with some decent restaurants and cafes…The main attraction being the historic Busselton Jetty… So I managed to find a wine and food tour of the Margaret River that wasn’t for old people!
